Naturally, I'm focused on the writing on the back of the hat, that I can't quite make out. I do like the pig face, it seems suitable. And his necklace resembles a noose.

Benedict's a predator, historically and presently. Perhaps like the owl, though the owl is more perfect of its own nature. This Pope borrows from nature with all human self-consciousness: the hook on his staff most predominant. There's a kind of retro-transformation happening, possibly without his notice. Eyes and nose are most definitely beastly, aren't they?
Supposedly he released white doves on departing from Istanbul yesterday (or today?) Do your two mounds represent the houses of Rome and the Eastern Orthodox Church? I'll bet "Rectus" is declared by Rome!
Catholocism's truly a curiosity, pity it's had so much power over so many, lo' these many centuries.

"Bird of Pray" is brilliant - I'm so blinded though by my love of owls, as to see quite simply that the guy with the big hat's either about to receive a vicious wound, or nasty *splay* as a birdy dope slap!
Forgive the irreverence, if it's off-putting. As I'm telling others on tBlog, the "nice" Andrea retrenches this time of year and yields to what lately I'm calling the phenomenon of "Mrs Hyde."

By the way, am I the only one to perceive anatomical reproductive suggestions where once I thought were a hooked staff? (Surely that 's an erect penis, rising from a hairy orbitally shaped matter to the pope's stage-left??
And oh, ow! A sicle-protrusion that has got to be a shocking pain ... (looks like combining muslim and catholic glyph symbology.)
Gives new meaning to the modest little sign on the opposite mound "Rectus."

Sorry, I'll stop after this - is the owl trying to read the words that Lindy (me too) couldn't make out on the back of the Papal ruler's hat? That's a puzzle begging to be solved, both from within the piece and from its viewers!

The catholic religion, the catholic church, has always struck me as being a truly dangerous entity. Too much power, and too much abuse of that power (and its subjects) leads many to be suspicious not only of that particular strand of religion, but all the many other strands. (though goodness knows, those "strands" have done enough on their own to create that feeling)

Well, from what I've seen so far, I'm still quite the fan of Mrs Hyde. Best behaviour is not necessary, Andrea.. just plenty of truth and those much wanted and respected thoughts.
