Can't hold my eyes open - these images will likely dally in my dreamlife tonight! - ak posted by: Lindy (reply) post date: 12.02.06 (7:53 am) Naturally, I'm focused on the writing on the back of the hat, that I can't quite make out. I do like the pig face, it seems suitable. And his necklace resembles a noose. posted by: akelso (reply) post date: 12.02.06 (7:57 am) Benedict's a predator, historically and presently. Perhaps like the owl, though the owl is more perfect of its own nature. This Pope borrows from nature with all human self-consciousness: the hook on his staff most predominant. There's a kind of retro-transformation happening, possibly without his notice. Eyes and nose are most definitely beastly, aren't they? Supposedly he released white doves on departing from Istanbul yesterday (or today?) Do your two mounds represent the houses of Rome and the Eastern Orthodox Church? I'll bet "Rectus" is declared by Rome! Catholocism's truly a curiosity, pity it's had so much power over so many, lo' these many centuries. posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 12.02.06 (8:12 am) Reply to: akelso The more I look at this one, the more focused I become on the bird of prey (pray? Hmmmm.) ciricling above. What do you make of it? j posted by: juniperflux (reply) post date: 12.02.06 (8:13 am) Reply to: Lindy Gosh... I hand't noticed the noose/necklace. I love that detail now that you point it out. j posted by: akelso (reply) post date: 12.02.06 (12:22 pm) Reply to: juniperflux "Bird of Pray" is brilliant - I'm so blinded though by my love of owls, as to see quite simply that the guy with the big hat's either about to receive a vicious wound, or nasty *splay* as a birdy dope slap! Forgive the irreverence, if it's off-putting. As I'm telling others on tBlog, the "nice" Andrea retrenches this time of year and yields to what lately I'm calling the phenomenon of "Mrs Hyde." Meanwhile Juniper and Jongleur, I'll strive for my best behavior in the context of your blogsites, which offer the classiest and most creative spaces I've yet found online! - ak posted by: akelso (reply) post date: 12.02.06 (12:33 pm) By the way, am I the only one to perceive anatomical reproductive suggestions where once I thought were a hooked staff? (Surely that 's an erect penis, rising from a hairy orbitally shaped matter to the pope's stage-left?? And oh, ow! A sicle-protrusion that has got to be a shocking pain ... (looks like combining muslim and catholic glyph symbology.) Gives new meaning to the modest little sign on the opposite mound "Rectus." Gooness, jongleur! posted by: akelso (reply) post date: 12.02.06 (12:51 pm) Sorry, I'll stop after this - is the owl trying to read the words that Lindy (me too) couldn't make out on the back of the Papal ruler's hat? That's a puzzle begging to be solved, both from within the piece and from its viewers! [you really might enjoy seeing Stephen Colbert's piece on Benedict16 at tinyurl dot com slash yj28vr - where "dot" = "." and "slash" = "/" - I've had trouble sharing websites in these comments ... - just click on "Ecu-menace" from the wide column on the right] -- ak posted by: akelso (reply) post date: 12.02.06 (12:54 pm) Do eunuchs inhabit the Papal court ...? posted by: thejongleur (reply) post date: 12.07.06 (4:47 pm) Reply to: Lindy Ah. The hat is, shall we say, more of the... protective variety. And I sometimes have a habit of writing backwards. *smile* ams posted by: thejongleur (reply) post date: 12.07.06 (5:11 pm) Reply to: akelso The catholic religion, the catholic church, has always struck me as being a truly dangerous entity. Too much power, and too much abuse of that power (and its subjects) leads many to be suspicious not only of that particular strand of religion, but all the many other strands. (though goodness knows, those "strands" have done enough on their own to create that feeling) "As I'm telling others on tBlog, the "nice" Andrea retrenches this time of year and yields to what lately I'm calling the phenomenon of "Mrs Hyde." Meanwhile Juniper and Jongleur, I'll strive for my best behavior in the context of your blogsites.." Well, from what I've seen so far, I'm still quite the fan of Mrs Hyde. Best behaviour is not necessary, Andrea.. just plenty of truth and those much wanted and respected thoughts. And thank you for the video. ams posted by: akelso (reply) post date: 12.07.06 (5:37 pm) Reply to: thejongleur Well, terrific then. When I feel remotely off-colour, my words will possibly be signed, "Mrs Hyde!" Glad you liked the video (you refer to the Stephen Colbert piece on the pope, eh? What a case of 'great minds think alike!!' I refer to Colbert and yourself, of course) posted by: lindy (reply) post date: 12.07.06 (11:19 pm) John was a friend of mine! Okay, I feel much better now. Oh, gosh. I'm falling off my chair laughing. Good lord, he's wearing a condom. Oh, mercy. Mercy, mercy me. No wonder his nose is pulled up in a pig snout. You've outdone yourself in the subtlety department. I'm snorting out loud as I continue to inspect this. posted by: John Applegate (reply) post date: 02.05.07 (10:29 am) Google is the best search engine |
